My little boxes

So many thoughts flowing.
Things I’ve missed, things I have to do.
Things I was too scared to get into.
Memories washing over me, faded photographs, phrases which set off a long and winding walk down memory lane. Laughter and fear, inexplicable emotions mixed with those that mirrored themselves in their eyes.
Thank God for those little boxes I put everything into. . . .the boxes I can open at will, and even though there are tears in my eyes as I recall the things that have been said and done so many years ago, the happier things override everything else.
And it feels so great.
I know I have changed, perhaps become a little more hard-hearted in a very short span of time. But I love my little boxes, because they reveal to me what was pure, innocent, and untouched by any negativity whatsoever.
My little boxes hold memories of my grandfather, and our trips to the park. The times I made him act like a prince who worshipped the ground I walked on, while I coldly rejected his declarations of love.
The old memories of old best friends, promises made and honoured.
People who left deep impression, others whose words got washed away with the waves of time.
I dig deeper and deeper, and de-clutter. Certain things have been dealt with, while other still leave niggling doubts in my head.
Accordingly, I do my tidying up, and wait for the new batch to make its presence felt.
Today was a great spring-cleaning session.
Easter means new beginnings. I made one. And I enjoyed reminscing with those who were kind enough to listen.
Thank you.
And now, goodnight.
Till next time!
Adieu.

  1. I love it. Storing things away in the corners of our minds, only to deal with them later…such a simple topic, yet so well written.
    Well done!

  4. Dunno why, but this this piece reminds of that “choose the right door” piece. Very simple and honest. Devoid of your “regular” dark material.
