Master of Disguise

Have you ever stood at the edge of the world, waiting for it to explode in your face?
Have you ever felt the wind rush around you, encompassing your very soul?
Have you ever wanted to know what it would be like to look at your life from an outsider’s perspective?
Have you ever wanted to be someone else, just for a day?

Have you ever looked at your life like it’s a suitcase, where every mood and every situation is represented by a new costume, a wig, an accessory?
Have you ever owned a dark-coloured trenchcoat, a soft felt hat, and a pair of dark glasses?
Have you ever walked down a road, wishing you could be invisible?
Are you a master of disguise?

Wait a minute, don’t answer that.
We all know what you’re going to say.
A fervent nod, a gleam in your eye.
A realisation of every man’s dream.

So put on your face for today, Maestro, and turn to the world with a smile.
Play the game better than the rest; deceive them all with a swish of your cape.
Wear your personality, and stride out the door.
With the knowledge that you’re a master of a disguise, but you’re the biggest fool of all.

  2. Damnnn niceee!! Me likes!! 🙂

  3. Haven’t we being doing that already, as long as we’ve been around? I hate to say this, but our life is what we percieve it to be, because so many of the things we fight for, attach importance to, are nothing but paradigms based on what is conventional wisdom, we are products of the society, system. Its all unreal, its like the matrix, just that you and I are in denial. You are not special, neither am I, but it makes living a hell lot easier thinking we are.

  5. We are who we think we are, we become what we hope others want us to be. We strive to be our real selves, but in many a case, we don’t know who that person is. Sometimes the costume is for fun, sometimes it’s needed. Either way, if we are who WE WANT to be, then it is not a disguise, as we have faith in our convictions.

This makes some sense to me, though not a lot. I’d like it very much if you could assist me in deciphering what I’ve said.

  6. Our wants are defined by a moral code set by the society .. we are a product of this society .. the need is always supressed .. you are living in a make believe world too Jai .. think about it, you hump a cow on the fucking highway, you go for glory .. at the end of it all, if you have a smirk on your face, that’s time well spent. but being who we are, we just put the thought down as plain disgusting .. whatever makes you happy is what matters, not societal appreciation. it counts for nothing, nada. human mind, human need, is never appreciated, acknowledged, it becomes acceptable only when a larger proportion of the society sees the logic behind it, or if the people in power stand to gain anything out of it .. its plain fucking disgusting, and I’m nothing but a keyboard warrior .. rant over.

  7. I would like to own a dark coloured trench coat and dark coloured glasses!!
And what Mandar said. This is all really like the Matrix…. We’re all prisoners, in a prison for the mind.
I don’t have any heavy stuff to comment. Nice work…

  8. Brilliant! I stumbled across your blog recently…I totally love the way you write. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff.

  9. is all quite true. we disguise as per situation, i suppose the most balanced are those who need no disguise at all.
